The name Sicko Disko has been a part of clubland in Zagreb (Croatia) since 2007, both as a DJ collective and a string of parties. In 2013, Sicko Disko entered the airwaves with a three-hour mixed show every Saturday on Croatia’s Radio 808 (www.radio808.com).

Sicko Disko was founded by DJ marmat, and five years later he was joined by DJ Freez, stepping into the role of radioshow-host. They make up the core of the crew, while other members who came and went include DJs Ivna Yuri, Jan Frensin, Mirza, hrwo E...

Over the years, Sicko parties were held in many clubs in Croatia and the surrounding region, places like Katran/Shock Show Industry (Zagreb), Nemo (Rijeka), Judino Drvo (Split), Klub Kulture (Križevci), Metelkova (Ljubljana, Slovenia), Laika (Belgrade, Serbia), Market (Vienna, Austria), etc… For a long time the parties were held in one of the best clubs in Zagreb at the time – club Sirup, but since it closed Sicko Disko found two new homes in clubs Funk and Ro&Do.

When it comes to music, describing Sicko Disko is not the easiest. The starting point may have been electroclash and similar styles that were big at the time, but by the time marmat was joined by Freez, the sound was mostly house music. It can still be described that way, although - their house is a weird house, one that’s built with a lot of groove and a complete disregard for subgenres. And no, they don’t play disco (unless Freez is feeling nostalgic).

Marjan Matković Marmat has been a DJ for almost 20 years and his career brought him from Zagreb to Bombay, London, Budapest, Vienna, Ljubljana and Belgrade. He performed on some of the best festivals in Croatia, like The Garden Festival, Soundwave, Stop Making Sense, plus Serbia’s Exit (twice!). He mostly sticks to electro disco indie house, but nothing is out of bounds.

Marko Tralić Freez, known on Zagreb’s party-scene as the founder of the Breaklectica clubnight and a part of the Groodanje collective, has performed in countless clubs and festivals. In 2000s he was known for playing breaks, but since early 2010s the music he plays mostly has a house beat, while the melodies and rhythms vary wildly.

Imagine a place where unimaginable happens, where everyone is simply okay, where there are no bad vibrations, where having fun is the no.1 priority, and where you don't leave unless it's closing time. A nice and warm place where House meets Disco, where Electro taps Indie on the shoulder, and from the shadows lurk Techno and Breakbeat. That is Sicko Disko.
